How to share one Logitech keyboard and mouse between a Mac and a PC
Many Logitech keyboards and mice can pair with up to three computers and switch between them, and the computers don't have to run the same operating system. Here's how to set it up so one keyboard and one mouse work with both your Mac and your PC.
1. Get a receiver for each computer
Plug a Logi Bolt™ receiver into each computer. Your keyboard or mouse probably came with one, and they're sold separately. You can also pair over Bluetooth, but a receiver gives a steadier connection, and BoltMate needs one.
2. Pair each device on its own channel
- On the device, press and hold the Easy-Switch™ key or button for the channel you want, for example 1 for the Mac, until its light blinks quickly.
- On that computer, pair the device using Logi Options+™.
- Repeat on the other channel, for example 2 for the PC, with the PC's receiver.
- Do the same for the mouse.
Now pressing 1 or 2 on a device moves that device to that computer.
3. Make the mouse follow the keyboard
Each device switches on its own, so pressing 2 on the keyboard leaves the mouse behind. To switch everything with one key press, install BoltMate on both computers and sign in. Press 1 or 2 on the keyboard and the mouse follows. Here's why the mouse doesn't follow on its own, and the other options.
4. Keep both computers on the same network
BoltMate on each computer tells the other one when you switch, over your local network. Wi-Fi and Ethernet both work, as long as both computers are on the same network. Networking details lists the ports to allow if you have a firewall.
